Xbox Live stance on single-player save game editing?

To be more clear: Editing only single player files- That is, games that are strictly one-player with no possibility of multiplayer (Or, in the event that they do have multiplayer capability, Multiplayer and Singe-player are strictly separated and have no overlap whatsoever.) Examples: Final Fantasy 13, Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Star Ocean: The Last Hope, Dragon Age: Origins, games of that nature. What is the Xbox Live stance on editing save games (Ala adding items to your inventory, experience points, etc.) for your own benefit, where there is no possibility of Multiplayer cheating?

I ask because good lord, grinding and hunting for items gets really tedious after a while, even with a guide telling you what is where and how to get it, and some games (like Mass Effect 2) only have a finite amount of money available, which limits your equipment.Xbox Live stance on single-player save game editing?
It's against the rules because sadly it's considered as modding. If you think about it, your not really doing any harm but they would look at it as cheating for acheivments do they're pretty against it.
