Can I connect an Xbox 360 to the internet without Xbox Live?

I have a number of games (Assassins creed 2, Dragon Age:Origins, etc) that have downloadable content. I was wondering if there was any way that I could get this content without Xbox Live (using Ethernet or something)?



If I HAVE to get Xbox Live, how much does this cost for a basic version. The cheepest one that I can Download stuff from. Any help will be usefull.Can I connect an Xbox 360 to the internet without Xbox Live?
Xbox Live Silver is free, it allows you to get DLC and run some basic functions but doesn't allows you to play against others.

XBox Live Gold costs you money and will allow you to play against others



Any DLC you download any DLC you bought will be bound by a twofold license. One console license that allows in pretty much all cases every player on said console to use said content. And a User License that allows the user to take this content to another xbox 360 [lets say at a friend] and play it as long as they are logged in.



This means that as long as the DLC resides on the xbox 360 it was originally bought on it can be played by everybody even offline. The moment the DLC is moved to another Xbox 360 [using a memory unit, usb stick or HDD] you require the User License and have to be logged it. For this you don't require Xbox Live Gold even Xbox Live Silver members can enjoy this.



If for whatever reason you moved consoles, you bought a new one you are able once a year to change the base console license. What does this mean? You go to the website: http://www.xbox.com/en-us/support/system鈥?/a>

And follow the procedures. Then you re download the DLC and it is set to see your new xbox 360 as it's home. Hence plays offline.



This can only be done once a year, so for instance if you would do this the 30th of may 2010 you can't move license until 30th april 2011.
Downloading ANY DLC requires Xbox Live Silver, regardless if you have internet or not.



I recommend Xbox Live Gold though.

The silver membership to Xbox live is free and there is a chance that you can download the DLC but you can't get ones you have to pay for (I don't think)
You can connect it to the internet without going on Xbox Live.



But you can't access it through a 360 without using Live.
